Introduction

It is specific to cardiac tissue where CK-MB(CK-2) is released due to myocardial cells death. The CK-MB levels begin to rise within 4 to 8 hours and reaches peak at 12 to 24 hours.

Normal range

Normal serum CKMB < 24 U/L

Diagnostic significant of serum CKMB activity measurement

High serum CKMB levels occurs in following cases:

Ø  Myocardial infarction

Ø  Skeletal muscle

Ø  Myocardial injury

Ø  Ischemia

Ø   Angina

Ø   Inflammatory heart disease

Ø   Cardiac surgery
